VetMedin® (pimobendan) chewable tablets | It’s a Dog’s Life - Help Them Get Back to Living It.

Vetmedin® (pimobendan) Chewable Tablets is the only FDA-approved veterinary inodilator (inotropic agent with vasodilatative properties) for the management of the signs of canine congestive heart failure (CHF).

VETMEDIN increases cardiac output and provides balanced vasodilation all in one single product.

Now dogs with CHF can continue to enjoy quality time with their owners. Best of all, signs of CHF often improve within 8 days. VETMEDIN is indicated for mild, moderate, or severe CHF (modified NYHA II, III, or IV). It’s available in half-scored, chewable tablets (1.25 mg and 5 mg).

VETMEDIN is a potent, balanced vasodilator and a positive inotrope that directly increases cardiac output.

Both product attributes complement one another in managing the symptoms of CHF.

VETMEDIN improves symptoms of CHF quickly and reliably

Acting directly on the heart, VETMEDIN improves signs of CHF often within 8 days.

In a US clinical field study, attitude, cough, activity, and other quality of life parameters were evaluated to calculate improvements of the heart insufficiency score (Day 8) and overall clinical effectiveness scores (Day 29) for dogs in the VETMEDIN treatment group.

With VETMEDIN, you no longer have to rely on unapproved drugs for use in dogs.

Benazepril, an ACE inhibitor not approved by the FDA for veterinary use, is widely used in the US for the treatment of dogs suffering from congestive heart failure.

In a European good clinical practice (GCP) study (VetSCOPE, JAAHA 2006), using a capsule formulation of VETMEDIN, dogs with AVVI were evaluated against benazepril for an 8-week treatment period followed by an optional follow-up study with fewer restrictions on concurrent medication. Overall clinical efficacy in the pimobendan group was better than in the benazepril group at Day 56. Long-term median survival time was approximately three times longer for dogs that received VETMEDIN compared to dogs that did not receive VETMEDIN (415 days versus 128 days, P=0.0022).

The study utilized capsule formulation of VETMEDIN. Bioequivalence between capsule and chewable tablet has not been shown.
