Raise awareness with the Mobile Dog Heart Health Tour
Free heart examinations for dogs and heart health education for dog owners
The Mobile Dog Heart Health Tour, sponsored by Boehringer Ingelheim, was organized to teach people about congestive heart failure (CHF) in dogs. During tour stops, usually as part of larger pet events, veterinarians perform free dog heart health screenings in a soundproof medical unit.
"Early diagnosis and treatment of heart failure can significantly prolong and improve the quality of a dog's life," says Nigel Swift, board-certified veterinarian with Boehringer Ingelheim. "We look forward to reaching out to local dog owners to educate them about heart disease in dogs and their treatment options. By emphasizing the importance of annual veterinary examinations and early diagnosis of heart disease, we hope to help more dogs live longer and better lives."
In past years, the tour has traveled coast-to-coast making stops at canine events along the way in New York City, Chicago, St. Louis, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. New events for 2011 and 2012 are being planned now. If you are interested in having the tour come to your area or have an idea for a dog heart health event, we would love to hear from you. Simply fill in and submit the brief Visit My Clinic form. A representative from Boehringer Ingelheim will get in touch with you to discuss ideas and possibilities for a Mobile Dog Heart Health Tour stop in your area or at your clinic.
